9.18.25, 10-1: Fused Glass Fun with Lavae
Do you want to start making scrumptious light-filled fused glass art? Start
by learning the basics of kiln-forming with Lavae Aldrich. In this beginning class (no prior
experience required), you'll learn the basic techniques, processes, and rules of glass fusing
while creating a work of art. You'll start with a brief exercise to learn to cut glass. We'll talk
about compatibility (COE) and what happens to glass in the kiln. Then, starting with a 6” glass
backer, you'll compose your art work, using colored sheet glass, glass powders and “frit”, glass
stringers and noodles, puddles, and dots. Each piece will be fired twice; fused first to a flat
blank and then again in the mold of your choice. You'll choose from a dish, plate, votive holder,
or nitelite. You'll return 3 days later to pick up your art piece. (Each kiln firing takes about 24
hours.)
• All tools, materials, and heat (kiln-firing) provided.
